Visiting Grandma by Cleo

me in the backseat
Last month, I went with momma and daddy to visit grandma.  Normally, I would stay home with everyone else but since I'm still  not at 100% after my operation momma told daddy that they were taking me no discussions.  You gotta love my momma.

Anyway, after about an hour of daddy "taking freakin' forever" as momma says we were on our way.  I got to sit in the back seat instead of the carrier because daddy said I get too fussy and will hurt my ear more.  So, momma said "find" and told him he, "better not drive all NASCAR cause she's sitting in the back unprotected."  That's my parents for you.  I know mamma wasn't happy because she believes in animal safety and didn't want me out but she also didn't want to argue with daddy.

Sunset
Daddy had to stop to take pictures of the sunset.  He's got this thing about taking sunset pictures.  Momma stayed in the car with me and took a couple pictures of the cows who kept looking at daddy.  One of them was watching daddy pretty closely.  Momma picked me up and showed me the cows.  They weren't much to see but she seemed to think they were cool.  Whatever.

Cow on the road
We got to grandma's about five hours later.  Momma carried me and grandma immediately started getting all mushy with me.  She wanted to pet me, talk to me and told momma she needed to put me down so I could walk around and explore.  Momma put me down and set up my food and water while daddy brought me my litter box.  I walked around and explore grandma's apartment.  It's not as big as our house but it has shaggy brown carpet that's really comfy to curl up and sleep on not that I slept on the floor at night.

At bedtime, momma lifted me up on to the REALLY high bed and I got to sleep between momma and daddy.  It was really nice and I didn't want to go home but we had to cause momma had to work.

So, momma and daddy load up the car and we headed home.  Momma told daddy that she thinks that because I'm so well behaved and seem to like car travel, they should take me with them whenever they go out of town.  My brothers and sister are going to be so jealous but I can't help it that I don't freak out in a car.  I can't wait to go traveling again.  I just hope I don't have to look at a bunch of silly cows again.

The Cast of Cats by all of us

Arty here.  We took a vote and decided to each write our own biography.  We're going to start in order of seniority mostly because it took everything to get Shadow to come out of the bedroom.  As mom says he's a big chicken in a black cat suit.  So, here we go.

Shadow
My name is Shadow.  I'm thirteen years-old.  I've lived with Momma all my life.  The first day I saw her I knew we were meant to be together.  Momma had just moved to our town and was looking for a pet.  She specifically wanted a black cat and she found me.  She paid $10.81 for a bag of cat food and got me free.  We lived in our apartment for about five years before she met and married dad.  Then they moved to the farm house.  I've only been outside three times in my life.  Once when she brought me home from the pet shop, once when she took me from our apartment to the farm house and once when she took me to the vet.  The vet experience was the worst.  I don't like the outside world.  I'd rather be inside where the air is climate controlled, the food is in a dish and I have a nice cozy bed to curl up on.  I rarely come out of the bedroom.  Usually, I wait till Momma is home, then I come out into the living room to be with her.  I love to sit with her on the couch and watch old movies.

Introduction by Arty

Hi, my name is Arthur but everyone calls me Arty.  Well, sometimes my human mom calls me Artimus Catimus, Artichoke or (when I've done something extra mischievous) Arthur-you-little-&^%*-stop-that.  But, you can call me Arty.

Anyway, this is a little blog me and my fellow housemates have decided to create to chronicle our lives in this huge old farm house.  There are eleven of us, yes you read right, eleven of us.  When people say, "ELEVEN?!?!" I always her mom justify it by saying, "Well we don't have kids and the house is so big that we it doesn't even seem like we have that many."  Of course, when no one's around she gripes that there's barely any room for anyone but the cats, go figure.

So, here's a run through of everyone's name.  Shadow, Abby, Cleo, Liberty, Pudgie, Slim Jim, D'artagnan, Sir Galahad, Molly, Dutch and me.  In another blog we'll go through and talk about ourselves more but we just wanted to do a quick introduction for you.  For the time being let me just say that we've each got our own unique personalities, we may not like each other much but we're a family and we love each other very much.  We have two of the best human parents a group of cats could ask for and we're pretty happy.

So, welcome to 9 Lives Squared.

Best,

Arty
